Blue Ribbons for Heirloom Apples at the Apple Show

In 1924, the world’s first Olympics took place in France, and California’s Mendocino County hosted its first Apple Show. Over a century later, Gowan’s family farm continues this tradition, showcasing heirloom apples, competing for blue ribbons, and offering free Apple Tasting at the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show.

Blue ribbons winners include multiple varieties of Gowan's organic heirloom apples—Striped Jonathans, Gravensteins, true Golden Delicious, Red Jonathans, Macintosh, Sierra Beauty, Hawkeye Red Delicious, and Granny Smith!

During apple season ( August – November) new apple varieties are harvested weekly for tasting and purchase exclusively at Gowan's Cider Garden.
